Hus, Jan
( 1370, Husinec, Bohemia–6 jul. 1415, Konstanz).

Reformador religioso bohemio. Estudió y enseñó en la Universidad de Praga, donde fue influenciado por John Wycliffe. Como rector de la universidad desde 1402, se convirtió en el líder de un movimiento reformista que criticó la corrupción del clero católico. La condena de la Iglesia a las enseñanzas de Wycliffe amenazaron el movimiento y su posición se vio más socavada aún por su postura en la lucha de poderes entre papas rivales. Fue excomulgado en 1411, pero continuó predicando. Criticó la reanudación de la venta de indulgencias por el antipapa Juan XXIII, lo que a su vez llevó a que se reabriera el caso de herejía en su contra. Fue invitado al concilio de Constanza para que explicara sus puntos de vista; aunque se le prometió un salvoconducto, fue detenido, enjuiciado por herejía y quemado en la hoguera. Sus escritos fueron importantes en el desarrollo del idioma checo, así como en la teología de la reforma eclesiástica. Sus seguidores fueron llamados husitas.
